Srinagar, Feb 10: The Sozni embroidery artisans of district Anantnag were informed of the latest techniques and digital marketing in a two-day workshop organized by the Department of Handicrafts & Handloom and the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Te 13th capacity building programme was held on February 9 and 10 during which the artisans were acquainted with the latest trends to put their creativity to productive use as per the market demands.
“A detailed presentation on the latest designs and fashion in Sozni art was discussed in detail. The artisans were made aware of the latest e-Commerce platforms, e-marketing, the importance of packaging and quality improvement. They were informed of the latest schemes and direct marketing avenues for the handicraft sector,” a statement by H&H Department issued here said, adding that the Sozni artisans were asked to visit the school of designs wherein they will be provided with a new design pattern of Sozni art free of cost.
The programme was attended by 35 artisans of Sozni hand embroidery. The faculty who attended the programme were Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Department of Management Studies Islamic University of Science & Technology Awantipora along with Master Trainers from the school of designs Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Mr. Showkat Ahmad, and Mr. Yaseen Ahmad Bhat, Assistant Director Handicrafts and Handloom Anantnag and Deputy Director PHDCCI Iqbal Fayaz Jan.
The artisans while applauding the role of the Handicraft Department and PHDCCI for arranging “such a wonderful” awareness workshop, said they have gained and enriched a lot through the two-day program and will adopt the techniques learnt in the packaging, designing and e-marketing of their products.
