A 26-year-old youth, who sustained injuries from electrocution while installing CCTV cameras in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, passed away on Thursday morning, officials said.
A police official said that the tragic incident occurred on May 7 when the victim was involved in the installation process of CCTV cameras in the area.
“Despite receiving immediate medical attention, the severity of his injuries proved fatal, leading to his demise,” he said.
Police identified the deceased as Danish Khazir son of Khazir Mohammad Bhat of Badam Bagh Sopore.
Officials said that soon after the incident, Danish was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he was referred to Srinagar.
“However, after 11 days Danish succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning,” they added.
While confirming the news, a police official said that Danish, who sustained grievous injuries from an accidental electric shock on May 7 while installing CCTV cameras, tragically passed away this morning while receiving treatment.
The official stated that the local administration, in conjunction with the police and army, promptly provided all necessary assistance to the family throughout the period of the injured youth’s hospitalization.
“Additionally, ongoing support is being extended to the grieving family,” he added.
Following the incident, several educational institutions in Sopore town were closed as a precautionary measure.
