Baramulla, May 13: The body of a woman who drowned in the Jhelum River in Dokalbal Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on April 22 was recovered after approximately 20 days on Saturday.
According to a police official, the woman had fallen into the river Jhelum on April 22 in Dokalbal area of Sopore.
“Despite several attempts to recover her body, the authorities were unsuccessful,” he said.
However, the official stated that the woman’s body was retrieved by locals in Baramulla on Saturday.
“The body was then taken to GMC Baramulla for medico legal formalities,” he added.
Upon completion of all formalities, the body was returned to the family for the last rites.
“Further investigation into the incident is underway,” the police official said.
