Baramulla, Oct 04: Kamran Hameed, a 23-year-old football prodigy from Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, has achieved a significant milestone by securing a spot in the Jammu and Kashmir men’s senior football team for the 77th senior men’s National Football Championship Santosh Trophy in Goa.
Kamran’s selection serves as an inspiring tale for young athletes, not just in Sopore but beyond, illustrating that dedication, hard work, and passion for sports can open doors to a promising future.
Originally hailing from Tarzoo village of Sopore, Kamran’s journey from a small village to representing his state at the national level exemplifies how sports can break barriers and provide avenues for success.
Coming from a family with a football legacy, Kamran attributes his love for the sport to his father, a renowned footballer, and uncles who also played football.
He emphasizes the role of sports, beyond cricket, in steering youth away from social issues like drug abuse.
Kamran, having played three Inter University tournaments, expresses his ambition to contribute significantly to football, inspired by his idol, Portugal’s Ronaldo.
In Sopore, particularly in the Tarzoo area, Kamran is celebrated not just as a resident but as a celebrity.
He has represented notable football clubs in Kashmir, including FC Moosa, Lone Star FC, and the current Arco FC, solidifying his status as a rising star in North Kashmir’s football scene.
Jasir, a young football enthusiast from Sopore, acknowledges Kamran’s positive impact on players like him and highlights the government’s efforts in promoting sports in Kashmir.
The Santosh Trophy, a state-level national football competition under the All-India Football Federation (AIFF), provides a platform for state associations and government institutions to showcase their football prowess.
Kamran, with his dedication and passion, is not just everyone’s favorite in Sopore but also a rising star in North Kashmir’s football arena.
