Ganderbal, March 10: In a bid to further enhance tourism in Sonamarg, three talented Kashmiri artists have crafted a magnificent Snow Shaped Taj Mahal Igloo, following their success with the Snow Horse Cart last month.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir, who hailed the initiative as a significant boost to the region’s tourism sector.
The collaboration between the Tourism Department, Sonamarg Development Authority, and Ganderbal District Administration led to the creation of this remarkable snow sculpture, aimed at attracting more visitors to the picturesque Sonamarg valley.
Zubair Ahmad, one of the artists involved in the project, highlighted the uniqueness of the Snow Shaped Taj Mahal Igloo, claiming it to be the world’s first where visitors can actually sit inside. He also emphasized its insulation properties, ensuring a comfortable experience for tourists despite the chilly temperatures.
Deputy Commissioner Shyambir expressed optimism regarding the impact of the igloo on Sonamarg’s tourism, citing the remarkable turnout witnessed during the winter season. The unveiling of this snow masterpiece marks another milestone in Sonamarg’s journey to becoming a premier tourist destination in the region.
