Katra, March 21: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organised a One-Day Workshop on Record Keeping for Deans, Heads of Schools, Section Heads, Faculty and Staff Members on Friday. The event was conducted with support from the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) and facilitated by the Directorate of Quality Assurance (DQA), SMVDU. The workshop aimed to provide practical training on various aspects of record management, compliance and best practices.
The workshop was inaugurated by Neeraj Gupta, JKAS, Finance Officer and Prof. Supran Sharma, Director DQA. Prof. Sharma underscored the importance of record keeping in facilitating effective decision-making within academic institutions, while Neeraj Gupta highlighted its role in ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. Ajay Kumar Sharma, JKAS, Registrar SMVDU, also attended the event, emphasising the legal requirements for record retention and access protocols.
The workshop featured expert sessions by J. S. Jasrotia, KAS (Retd.) and Dr. Suneesh Buxi, IFS, Additional PCCF-Jammu, who provided insights into record creation, storage, and weeding, along with best practices in record management. They shared real-world examples to illustrate effective record-keeping strategies. During the valedictory session, Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor SMVDU, delivered a motivational address, applauding the organisers for their efforts and assuring that such quality initiatives will continue in the future.
