Jammu, Oct 18: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), in collaboration with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, organized a noteworthy Scientific and Technical Outreach Program at the SMVDU campus. Attended by over 300 students from various schools and departments, as well as faculty and staff members, the program aimed to create awareness about Nuclear Energy and its applications.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Registrar, SMVDU, and Dr Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, among others. Distinguished scientists from BARC, including S. Prabhakar (specializing in Food Irradiation Technology), Sameer Mandal (expert in Nuclear Reactor technology), R. K. B. Yadav (specialist in Radiation Safety in Health & Environment), Heema Rao (Head PA&FL Section), R. K. Mishra, and Yatin Thakur, shared their expertise during the program.
Organized by the School of Energy Management, SMVDU, the event was led by Dr Vineet Veer Tyagi, Dean of Research and Development, along with Dr. Sanjeev Anand, Associate Dean of Research & Development, Dr. Yatheshth Anand, and Dr. Jitendra Sharma. The program featured quizzes, expert lectures, and skits, engaging students actively and enhancing their understanding of Nuclear Science & Renewable Energy.
Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, emphasized the importance of such programs for students aspiring to pursue careers in the field of Nuclear Science & Renewable Energy. Sh. Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Registrar, SMVDU, noted the event’s significance in shaping students’ future paths.
The students’ response was overwhelmingly positive, with active participation in quiz sessions. Winners were awarded certificates, marking their achievements. Dr Yatheshth Anand extended gratitude to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for their steadfast support and collaboration, making this initiative a resounding success.
