Jammu, Oct 04: The ‘Hindi Pakhwada Samapan’ and ‘Prize Distribution Ceremony’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in the Matrika Auditorium to promote the use of Hindi in both administrative and academic spheres.
The event highlighted the importance of Hindi as the official language and was attended by esteemed dignitaries, the university said in a press release issued here.
The ceremony was graced by Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, as the Chief Guest, and Swami Yagyadharanand, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu, as the Special Guest. Swami Yagyadharanand shared his thoughts on the significance of language in fostering cultural and spiritual unity. Sanjiv Verma (IAS), who served as the Guest of Honour, highlighted the role of Hindi in governance and administration and encouraged the youth to contribute to its promotion.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr Anurag Kumar, Nodal Officer and I/c Hindi Cell, who underscored the importance of Hindi as a medium of communication across various fields and the role of Hindi Pakhwada in reinforcing its usage. In attendance were faculty members, staff, and students, with a special presence of Prof A.K. Das, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences.
A cultural programme added vibrancy to the event, with students showcasing their talents through songs, poetry recitations and bhajans, celebrating the beauty and richness of the Hindi language, the statement said, adding that the performances captivated the audience, reflecting creativity and cultural pride.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Madhumangal Chaturvedi, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, participants and organisers for their efforts. Special recognition was given to student volunteers, particularly Mr Dheeraj Kumar and his team, for their role in the event’s success.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held during Hindi Pakhwada, recognizing excellence in essay writing, poetry, debates, and more. The participants were applauded for their efforts and encouraged to continue nurturing their love for Hindi.
The event was a resounding success, further strengthening the commitment to promoting Hindi in academic and administrative contexts.
