Srinagar, Aug 09: Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital, one of the tertiary care health institutions in J&K on Friday said it has been catering to a large number of patients daily by providing consultations, patient care, and other health-related services.
On average, the hospital provides services to 3,200 patients in the outpatient and casualty departments daily, in addition to offering inpatient department (IPD) services across various wards with a capacity of 890 beds, the hospital said in a statement.
The OPD services cover Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology, ENT, Radiation Oncology, and Ophthalmology. The casualty and emergency section handles all cases of general medicine, trauma, surgery, and those requiring immediate attention. A well-organized mechanism is in place for patient reception, treatment, lab testing, admission, and related aspects.
It is important to note that approximately 30 major and 60 minor procedures are performed daily at the healthcare institute.
During 2023-24, 1,063,028 patients were attended to in the outpatient department, and 107,589 patients were treated in the inpatient department. Additionally, 10,726 major surgeries and 12,543 minor surgeries were performed during this period.
In Radiation Oncology, about 110 patients receive healthcare services daily, with 16 IPD patients also being treated. Additionally, 120 patients receive Radiation therapy daily.
The hospital conducts around 6,000 lab tests daily in dedicated labs, with lab services available 24×7. In the OPD, approximately 500 samples are evaluated daily, leading to around 6,000 tests being conducted, alongside tests performed on the IPD side.
On a single day, the hospital performs 30 MRIs, 450 ultrasounds (USGs), 125 CT scans, and an average of 400 X-rays.
The hospital provides round-the-clock lab services to IPD, OPD, and patients visiting the casualty department. The lab is equipped with dedicated staff and fully automated equipment, ensuring the best service for patients.
Sanitation and hygiene are priority areas, which are attended to with great dedication. SMHS Hospital and other associated hospitals of Government Medical College Srinagar are committed to providing quality healthcare and patient care facilities, with a special focus on sanitation, cleanliness, and hygiene, the statement said.
