In preparation for the upcoming religious occasions of Shab-i-Qadr, Jumat-ul-Vida, Navratra, and Eid-ul-Fitr, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has launched a series of special measures to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and smooth pedestrian and vehicular movement across the city.

The Commissioner, SMC, Dr. Owais Ahmed IAS has directed officials to implement extensive sanitation and facility management efforts at all major religious sites, ensuring a hygienic and organized environment for devotees.

SMC will uphold high sanitation standards at key religious locations, including Hazratbal, Jenab Sahib Soura, Dastgeer Sahib Khanyar, Imam Bargah Zadibal, Shahi Hamdan Sahib, Makhdoom Sahib, and prominent temples such as Sharika Devi Temple, Durga Nag Temple, and Purashyar Mandir.

To accommodate the increased number of devotees, mobile toilet vans will be installed at prominent religious places, remaining operational until the culmination of the festivals.

The Commissioner directed SMC’s Encroachment Wing to conduct massive anti-encroachment drives to ensure smooth pedestrian and vehicular movement throughout the city.

The Commissioner directed SMC’s Electric Wing to ensure the proper functioning of streetlights, particularly in and around religious sites. Dedicated repair teams will remain on standby to promptly address any lighting issues.

Special Arrangements at Hazratbal Given the high footfall at Hazratbal, SMC will deploy a dog-catching squad during Shab-i-Qadr, Jumat-ul-Vida, and Eid-ul-Fitr to prevent stray animals from entering the Asar Sharief premises. Additionally, sanitation workers will be deployed to maintain cleanliness throughout the area.

SMC will conduct special sanitation drives to ensure all religious sites to remain clean and hygienic ahead of the festivities.

SMC’s Commitment to a Clean & Hassle-Free Celebration with these measures in place, SMC reaffirms its commitment to providing a clean, well-managed, and safe environment for citizens observing these significant religious events. The Commissioner has directed all officials to execute these measures promptly and effectively, ensuring a seamless experience for devotees across Srinagar.

For grievances, updates, or additional information, citizens can reach SMC’s 24×7 Control Room through the following helplines:
