Srinagar, Dec 5: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) is geared up for the impending harsh winter, assuring full preparedness to tackle snowfall and associated challenges.
According to an SMC official, “Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan recently led a comprehensive meeting at the Central Office in Karan Nagar, reviewing the snow preparedness arrangements and outlining detailed strategies.”
The meeting witnessed the presence of important officials, including Joint Commissioners, Executive Engineers, Chief Sanitation Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Stores Officer, and others.
A strategic plan was formulated to deploy snow clearance vehicles, tractors, and dewatering motors across all wards to ensure a seamless experience for the public during winter.
Commissioner Khan stated that swift snow removal from main areas, vital roads leading to hospitals, ration depots, institutions, and offices. He instructed the teams not to wait for snow accumulation but to proactively clear key routes without delay.
The directive included a 24×7 active snow monitoring committee and a dedicated helpline to address public grievances promptly.
The Commissioner stressed the importance of responsiveness, ensuring that the snow clearance helpline remains fully operational to handle calls, complaints, and grievances from the public. In an effort to combat waterlogging issues during winter, clear directives were issued to make all permanent dewatering stations fully functional.
Mobile pumps will be strategically deployed to address waterlogging concerns in different areas across the city.
With a commitment to public service, the SMC aims to tackle winter challenges efficiently, providing a reliable and responsive system for snow clearance and dewatering.
