Samba, March 26: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh BJP Vice President and former minister Surjeet Singh Slathia Sunday emphasized the crucial need of inculcating healthy competitive spirit among students, both in academics and extracurricular activities to meet the challenges of the competitive world.
Speaking at separate functions to celebrate annual day events of New Light Higher Secondary School, Balore Samba and Modern Institute of Education High School Sumb in Samba, Slathia said the competitive spirit enables students to grow in a productive atmosphere and places them in good stead, be it entry into careers, career development and sports arenas.
He said the parents and teachers can play a proactive role in this regard, adding that frequent interactions could lead to corrective measures wherever necessary.
Slathia stressed the need for a larger interpersonal relationship between students, teachers and parents, especially at the basic schooling level, as an important component of the learning process.
The former minister who was chief guest at the annual day functions, also highlighted the need for imbibing good moral values and virtues among children from the very beginning so that they grew up as disciplined citizens and contributors towards betterment of society.
He said inculcating moral values in curriculum will go a long way in achieving the larger objective of shaping the destiny of our children.
The former minister lauded the management of the two schools for innovative approach towards learning and other extra-curricular activities and said conducive atmosphere is key to motivate students towards sports and extra-curricular activities alongside academics.
He congratulated the students for taking lead in various activities and hoped this will give them much needed confidence and vigour.
Slathia also complimented the performers of the cultural and sports activities and wished them all the best in their endeavours.
