Srinagar, Nov 06: The Department of Students Welfare at SKUAST-K Shalimar organized an impactful Vigilance Awareness program under Vigilance Awareness week 2024 as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting integrity, transparency and anti-corruption values among students.
The event was attended by Chief Prosecuting Officer ACB Riaz Ahmad Dar, Dy. SP, ACB Ms. Mohsina Sibtain, Inspector Yasir Mahmood from Anti -Corruption Bureau, Dean Faculty of Horticulture, Prof. S.A. Wani, Dean Students Welfare Prof. Neelofar, Chief Vigilance Officer of SKUAST-K Prof. Shaukat Ara, HODs of various Divisions, Students Welfare Officer (HQ) Dr. Seemi Lohani, and Dy Comptrollers and staff from the Comproller’s office and Estate Office fostering a robust discussion on the importance of vigilance in both academic and professional spheres.
The program began by inaugural address by Dean Faculty of Horticulture, Prof.S.A.wani who highlighted the crucial role of students in upholding ethical standards and combating corruption. His lecture was followed by a detailed presentation by Dy. SP, ACB Ms. Mohsina Sibtain.
She emphasized that a vigilant mindset is essential to not only integrity but also driving positive change in Society. The event also includes thought provoking talk by Riaz Ahmad Dar, Chief Prosecuting Officer ACB who shared insights on the importance of ethical vigilance in today’s fast -paced World. “Integrity is the cornerstone of a prosperous society”, remarked the speaker. He also discussed the honesty, moral values, work ethics and transparency are the pillars of integrity.
In his brief lecture Inspector Yasir Mahmood emphasized the role of Vigilance officers in eradicating corruption from the society.
The vigilance Awareness Program concluded with closing remarks by Dean Students Welfare Prof. Neelofar, who thanked the guest speakers from the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Srinagar, participants and Program coordinator Dr. Seemi Lohani and reiterated the SKUAST- K’s dedication to nurture ethical leaders for the future. The program is a part of a broader initiative by the Students Welfare to instill a sense of civic responsibility and ethical integrity in the University’s students, preparing them to make a positive impact beyond campus.
An integrity pledge ceremony was also organized by the Program Coordinator. The pledge affirmed the commitment of every participant to practice ethical values against corrupt practices, and contribute positively to society.
