Srinagar, Oct 15: SKUAST-Kashmir continues its campaign for yellow revolution and in this endeavour, University is organizing awareness cum input distributions camps across the valley through Krishi Vigyan Kendras. As an active partner of this campaign, KVK Srinagar also conducted a series of outreach programmes across different zones and blocks of District Srinagar.
During the third quarter of the cropping season the kendra organized several scientist-farmer interactions and conducted PRA as a part of baseline survey in Panchayat Halqas of Qamarwari, Noorbagh, Harwan, Theed, Tailbal, Mujgund, Panzinara. HMT, Balhama and Khonmouh. The aim is to do SWAT analysis and propose technological backstopping for self-reliance in quality oilseed production, besides augmenting the fodder requirements of the area. In this direction Prof. S A Simnani, Prof & Head KVK Srinagar and his team of scientists in collaboration with Agriculture department and public welfare trust Khonmouh, launched the awareness cum input distribution programme from Khonmouh block covering an acreage of over 700 kanals under CFLD on oilseed for Rabi 2024.
Farmers were sensitizing about the recommended package of practice particularly the importance of line sowing and role of Gypsum in improving the crop yield and oil content. The campaign concluded successfully with the distribution of seed and necessary input under CFLD oilseed for Rabi 2024-25 at Tailbal and Chatterhama.
