Udhampur, April 03: A three-day training programme on “Developing Effective Communication Skills, Behaviour, Attitude and Responsibility towards the General Public” commenced Thursday at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur.
Designed for 24 officers and officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the course aims to enhance emotional intelligence, self-awareness, self-control and communication skills, ensuring more effective public engagement. With a strong emphasis on soft skills in policing, the programme covers stress and time management, self-leadership, behavioural adaptation to change, self-improvement, and strategies for enhancing organisational productivity. To ensure a high-impact learning experience, renowned faculty members from leading academic institutions have been invited as resource persons. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP, Deputy Director (Indoor), who attended as the Chief Guest. Speaking on behalf of the Director of SKPA Udhampur, he underscored the need for police personnel to adapt their behaviour and attitude when interacting with the public, highlighting the role of effective communication in conflict resolution, trust-building, and professional conduct. The programme is being coordinated by Chander Lekha, Sr PO, with ASI Rajinder Singh assisting in its smooth execution to ensure meaningful engagement for all participants.
