Inaugurates Kashmir College of Engineering &Technology
Highlights increasing demand for professionals in engineering &technology companies
Srinagar, July 18:Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the Kashmir College of Engineering and Technology at Ranbirgarh, Srinagar.
In his address, LG Sinha congratulated Chairman Raja Aijaz Ali and the entire team for their dedication to advancing technological excellence in academia, innovation, and developing a future-ready skilled workforce.
Highlighting the rapid transformation in the industry sector, LG Sinha emphasised the need to strengthen Industry-Academia collaborations in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s speed and scale of change. He called for fostering an innovation culture in engineering colleges and realigning curricula to meet evolving industry requirements.
“Skills, not degrees, will shape the destiny of our industries,” said LG Sinha. “The future workforce must possess critical skills such as cognitive abilities, logical reasoning, and technical expertise to build future-proof careers.”
The Lieutenant Governor also spotlighted reforms in the education sector under the guidance of Prime Minister NarendraModi, aimed at promoting startups, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir. He offered valuable suggestions to explore opportunities in the engineering and technology sector.
“The demand for professionals in engineering and technology has increased. Today, the industry seeks a workforce with specific skill sets. Our focus should be on building capacities in line with the skills required for current and future job positions,” he stated.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by key officials including Advisor to the Lt Governor Rajeev RaiBhatnagar, Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University Prof. Nilofer Khan, Commissioner Secretary of the Industries & Commerce Department Vikramjit Singh, and IGP Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi.
Chairman Raja Aijaz Ali, Principal Dr Syed Jalal Ahmad, faculty members, and staff of the college were also present on the occasion.
