Skill dev training on dairy goat farming held at SKUAST-K

Shuhama, Dec 16: The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sponsored a seven days Skill Development Programme on “Potential and Challenges of Dairy Goat Farming in Kashmir” concluded here at SKUAST-K’s Veterinary Faculty, Shuhama on Monday.

All twenty five aspiring dairy goat breeders from various districts of the valley participated in the training programme.

Experts from the division of Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine, Livestock Production, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Microbiology and the officers of the sheep husbandry department imparted theoretical as well as practical demonstrations to the participants.

Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Shoab Ahmad Kamil, hailed the efforts of the organisers for arranging such important programmes ensuring the impartation of knowledge about the scientific livestock management to the stakeholders.

Training Coordinator, Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Reshi, deliberated upon the importance of dairy goat rearing in the region and the value of goat milk in the contemporary times where health is a big concern.

He thanked the Director Planning, Dean Veterinary Faculty, Director Sheep Husbandry for the support and MSME for sponsoring the programme.

He informed that many such programmes are in pipeline and the youth interested in livestock rearing may contact, participate and benefit from such training programmes

The programme was aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to enhance their dairy goat farming practices

Earlier, Programme Co-Coordinator, Dr Muzammil Abdullah welcomed the participants.
