SKAUST-K , faculty of veterinary sciences welcomes fresh batch of students

Srinagar, Sep 03: The orientation program for 1 st Professional year BVSc & AH, was held at Faculty Auditorium of FVSc & AH on Tuesday September 02. Dean, Prof Shayaib A. Kamil, addressed the new batch with warm welcome, presented the overview of the prestigious institution of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (FVSc & AH), Shuhama of SKUAST-Kashmir. The Dean laid stress on the students to be disciplined in this profession so as to excel in future. While congratulating the new batch on securing admission, dean emphasized on the hard work and dedication of new budding veterinarians, so that a great legacy is passed on to them in the field of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, as this profession gives one more exciting opportunities than any other sister professions. He deliberated on the connection between animal health and human welfare. Earlier, Prof. Altaf Ahmad Bhat welcomed the students and parents to the panoramic, picturesque and lush green campus of FVSC & AH of SKUAST-Kashmir. Welcome address was followed by a screening of a Faculty documentary with the aim to introduce the institution to the new batch.
Introduction session was conducted, wherein senior students welcomed the fresher batch with flowers as a token of love. Prof. Zahoor Ahmad Pampori deliberated in detail the academic regulations of the BVSc & AH degree programme. Students as well as parents were made aware about the academic journey during the degree program.
Prof. Abdul Hai, lead warden Boys Hostels, explained in detail the hostel rules and the role of wardens and proctors. Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Bhat, Students Welfare officer, explained the Anti-Ragging regulations and its consequences and the measures faculty administration has put in place to ensure that the faculty campus is a ragging free institution. He made students aware of the different Student Clubs.
Aims of clubs and activities being undertaken by each club was explained to the new batch. UGC movie on anti-ragging was also screened during the program. This was followed by a queries session where queries of students and parents were addressed. Dr. Asloob Malik proposed the formal vote of thanks in the end. The program was coordinated by two senior students namely Preetinder Kour and Owais Yaqoob, both are proctors of Girls and Boys hostels, respectively.
