Six drug peddlers held across Kashmir

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 06 drug peddlers across Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

 

A Police Spokesperson said that a police party of Police Post Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan, arrested a drug peddler at Ghat Palhallan. He has been identified as Sahil Ahmad Malik son of Mohd Ashraf Malik resident of Singhpora Pattan. During search, 104 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession. The accused was taken into custody and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. 

 

Meanwhile in Kulgam, a police party of Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Zadura, intercepted two suspected persons carrying a nylon bag. They have been identified as Shahid Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Furrah and Zahoor Ahmad Khan son of Sehrab Ahmad Khan resident of Delhi A/P Anantnag. During checking, 04 Kgs of Grinded Cannabis and 40 grams of Charas concealed in the said nylon bag were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody. 

 

Similarly, at another checkpoint established by the police party of Police Station Qazigund near Railway Station Qazigund, a suspicious person who after noticing the police party tried to flee from the spot, but was apprehended by the alert police party. He has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Abdullah Bhat resident of Checki Badwani, Qazigund. During checking, 02 grams of Brown Sugar & cash amount of Rs 3000 (proceeds of Narcotic crime) was recovered from his possession. 

 

In another action at Budgam, a police party of Police Station Budgam during patrolling near Higher Secondary School Sholipora, intercepted two persons roaming in suspicious condition who on seeing the patrolling party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Showkat Ahmed Bhat @Dada son of Abdul Salam Bhat and Sameer Ahmed Bhat @Bille son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, both residents of Sholipora Budgam. During search, 124 grams of Charas, 02 mobile phones & cash amount of Rs 10,000 (proceeds of Narcotic crime) was recovered from their possession. 

 

During the course of investigation, one accused namely Sameer @Bille disclosed that he had concealed some more contraband substance and cash (proceeds of narcotic crime) at his residence and subsequently, police party raided the spot and recovered 116 grams of Charas, 600 grams of Poppy Straw and cash amount of Rs. 19,000 from his residence. 

 

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations and investigations were initiated.
