Doda, Apr 21: In a display of sheer mastery, Simriti and Shiv emerged as the reigning champions in the Bhaderkashi Chess Association District Titles held in the senior category in Doda.
Simriti’s remarkable performance saw her clinch victories across multiple categories, sweeping titles in the U-15, U-17, U-19, and Open sections of the girls’ division. Meanwhile, Shiv secured the title in the Open category, with Shivang Kotwal claiming the Junior category title.
The tournament, spanning three intense days of strategic battles, witnessed the participation of 51 skilled players. The inaugural ceremony, graced by Principal Adarsh Vidya Mandir Bhaderwah, commended the BCADD’s efforts in fostering chess within the remote regions of Doda District.
Under the watchful eye of Sh. Rajesh Kotwal, the Observer from J&K Sports Council, the trials progressed smoothly, ensuring fairness and transparency in every game.
The valedictory function, honored by Smt. Priya Kohli, Principal of Bhartiya Vidhya Mandir Bhaderwah, celebrated the exemplary performances of the winners. Certificates and medals were distributed to the champions, while all participants received recognition for their dedication.
Notably, the organizers extended support to the players by waiving entry fees, providing refreshments throughout the event, and even offering transportation facilities to six players, highlighting their commitment to promoting chess at the grassroots level.
The triumph of Simriti and Shiv, alongside the commendable efforts of BCADD, marks a significant milestone in the development of chess talent in the region, promising a bright future for the game in Doda District.
