Jammu, Aug 11: In the sacred month of Shravan Maas, a grand celebration of spiritual enlightenment is ongoing at the revered temple Devi Dwara, nestled in Mohalla Malhotra, Ward No. 11 of Jammu East assembly constituency. The devotees from all walks of life are thronging the temple to partake in this divine event and seek the blessings of Lord Shankar.
The recitation of the sacred Shiv Puran is providing an unparalleled opportunity for individuals to immerse themselves in Puja and Paath, fostering a deeper connection with their spiritual selves and seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva. The distinguished organizer of this magnificent event, Sanjay Mahey, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and former corporator of Ward No. 11, has orchestrated this spiritual extravaganza that is going to last for seven days.
Speaking on the occasion, Raman Suri, Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K said that this programme, spanning over seven auspicious days, has been meticulously designed to share the profound teachings and tales encapsulated within the Maha Shiv Puran. As we celebrate the third day of this enlightening journey, it is heartwarming to witness the huge number of devoted attendees congregating at the temple, he said.
Raman Suri said, “Shiv Puran Katha” refers to the recitation or narration of stories, teachings, and legends contained within the ancient scripture known as the “Shiv Puran.” The Shiv Puran is one of the eighteen major Puranas and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Puranas are a genre of sacred texts that contain a wide range of mythological, cosmological, and philosophical narratives.
Commending the tireless efforts of Sanjay Mahey and his dedicated team, Raman Suri expressed his admiration for the substantial work undertaken to create an environment where people feel drawn to partake in this spiritual awakening event, which aptly captures the essence of Jammu’s rich cultural heritage and resonates with the city’s cherished reputation as the “City of Temples”.
The recitation of Shiv Puran Katha is being done by the revered Satpal Shastri ji, who is elevating the spiritual experience for all attendees. Parveen Kerni Mandal President of Jammu East BJP, Dr Rajinder Sethi, Yashpal Abrol, Raman Gupta, Aajesh Gupta, Rinku Mahajan, Devinder Gupta, Gasha Kumar, Shiv Kumar, Kamal Kishore Jain, and Raja ji Tilak Dhari are among the esteemed individuals who have actively participated in the path recitation, collectively seeking divine blessings.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Mahey invited all to join in this remarkable spiritual journey, embrace the opportunity to connect with the divine and partake in the sacred rituals that enrich the soul. “Let us unite in gratitude and reverence in celebrating the timeless wisdom of Shiv Puran”, he added.
The organisers revealed that during the event various mythological stories and legends related to Lord Shiva will be told which will provide valuable insights into leading a meaningful and purposeful life. Devotional songs, bhajans, and chants dedicated to Lord Shiva are also being recited to bring together a community of devotees, fostering a sense of unity, devotion, and shared spirituality. “It is an occasion for people to come together and seek spiritual growth,” the organisers said.
