Srinagar, Apr 12: An encounter that began on Wednesday evening in Chakoora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district following specific input about the presence of two LeT terrorists was called off, as both terrorists managed to flee from the spot, officials said
A police officer told Rising Kashmir that two terrorists who were trapped in the Chakoora village managed to give slip to the forces parties due to darkness.
“Both of them managed to flee in dense populated area. However, massive searches are underway in the nearby areas,” he said.
The officer said they are tracing their inputs and soon they will be neutralized. Search parties will continue to dominate suspected areas so that terrorists would be trapped again, he said.
On 6:27 pm on Wednesday, a joint party of the Special Operations Group of police, Army, and CRPF cordoned the area on a specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area.
He said following the inputs, all exit points were plugged in and when security forces were moving towards a particular area, terrorists hiding there opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons.
