Srinagar, May 11: All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force organised a volunteer training and disaster management programme at Jamia Imam Jaffar Sadiq (AS) in Sumbal on Sunday, with participation from youth volunteers from different areas.
The initiative, launched by AJKSA President Molvi Imran Ansari, aims to train youth across Jammu and Kashmir to assist authorities and rescue agencies during emergencies and disaster situations.
During the programme, SDRF officials conducted practical demonstrations on disaster response, emergency rescue techniques, first aid, evacuation procedures and flood response measures. Volunteers were also sensitised about community preparedness and coordination during natural and man-made disasters.
Organisers said trained local volunteers could play a vital role during accidents, floods and fires by providing immediate assistance before rescue teams arrive at the spot.
The programme received an encouraging response from participants, who appreciated the initiative aimed at involving youth in humanitarian and public service activities.
The organisers said similar training programmes would soon be held in Srinagar, Budgam and Baramulla districts. They also announced separate disaster management sessions for women participants in the next phase of the initiative.
