Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda visited Samba district today to hold a Public Darbar. The event is aimed to address the issues and demands of the people in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, and other senior officers of the District Administration were present at the event. Members of the District Development Council, PRI members, and various delegations also participated in the event.

The Public Darbar received an overwhelming response, with people voicing their developmental issues and demands. The delegations expressed satisfaction with the outreach program, emphasizing its role in providing an opportunity for the public to voice their grievances and for the government to expedite their resolutions.

During the Public Darbar, several issues were raised, including civic problems, water supply, healthcare facilities in rural areas, infrastructure development, irrigation facilities, illegal mining, road connectivity, and the upgradation of PHCs and playgrounds.

The Commissioner Secretary assured all the individuals and delegations that their issues and genuine demands will be brought to the attention of the concerned departments for prompt redressal.

Earlier in the day, the Commissioner Secretary commenced her visit to Samba by attending the Viskit Bharat Sankalp Yatra event organised at Panchayat Diani of Block Samba.

During the event, she administered the Sankalp Yatra Pledge and inspected departmental stalls. She also distributed land passbooks among beneficiaries and presented certificates to women achievers and exceptional sportspersons in the district.

As part of the ‘Meri Kahani, Meri Zubaani’ initiative, the Commissioner Secretary interacted with beneficiaries of various government flagship programs who shared their stories. A vibrant cultural program was organized by school children to commemorate the occasion.

Sheetal Nanda also distributed child care kits to the beneficiaries, emphasizing the importance of child welfare. She directed the constitution of a team to check child labour and directed the District Social Welfare Officer Samba to closely monitor instances if any for combating child labour in the district.

Furthermore, the Commissioner Secretary paid a visit to the Anganwadi Center in Chak Jhangian. Recognizing the efforts of the Pani Samiti, the members from 12 villages and 8 Panchayats were awarded Abhinandan Patras for their contribution towards making their villages Har Ghar Jal certified.
