Srinagar, March 18: A delegation from the Shri Jagat Amba Sharika Chakreshwar Sanastha Trust, Hari Parbat, Srinagar, met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Tuesday, urging his intervention for the preservation and development of the ancient Sharika Chakreshwari Temple.
Led by Trust President Ranjeet Gurkha, the 11-member delegation presented the sacred dhyan of ‘SYUMBU SHREECHAKRA’, inscribed at the temple, along with a bouquet and revered scriptures. The meeting began with the ceremonial application of saffron Tilak on the Lieutenant Governor’s forehead and the tying of a Mouli on his wrist, accompanied by Vedic recitations by J.K. Khar and Sanjay Raina.
The Trust, which manages the centuries-old shrine in Srinagar and its replica temple in Jammu, follows the Logakhshi Calendar for religious observances at both locations. The delegation extended a formal invitation to the Lieutenant Governor to visit the Srinagar shrine for an on-ground assessment of its current condition. During the meeting, a memorandum was submitted, highlighting the shrine’s spiritual and cultural significance and its potential as a premier pilgrimage destination for devotees from across the country and beyond. The delegation sought the Lieutenant Governor’s personal intervention in facilitating restoration efforts and infrastructure upgrades to enhance accessibility and amenities for pilgrims. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation of his visit to the shrine soon, promising to look into their proposals for its revival and development. The delegation included General Secretary M.L. Sathu, Vijay Qazi, Surinder Kaul, Bharat Raina, Upinder Kar, Advocate Arun Dhar, Kuldeep Dhar and B.L. Jalali among others.
