AYODHYA, January 22: In a moment of profound unity and cultural richness, Kashmir extended its heartfelt contribution as Lord Ram took his rightful place in Ayodhya during the Pran Pratishtha ceremony.
The much-anticipated event, graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw the coming together of diverse communities, showcasing the deep-rooted cultural tapestry that binds India.
Among the highlights was a touching gesture from Kashmiri Muslims who presented two kilograms of pure saffron for the Pran Prathishta ceremony at the Ram Temple. This act went beyond religious boundaries, symbolizing a shared reverence for Lord Ram and underlining the cultural connections that unite the people of India.
Ashok Bhan, Chairman of the Kashmir (Policy & Strategy) Group, applauded this gesture, stating, “The saffron gift from Kashmiri Muslims beautifully reflects the harmonious coexistence of different faiths in India. It highlights the shared respect and admiration for Lord Ram, emphasizing our common cultural roots.”
As the grand ceremony unfolded today, and the temple opened its doors for public ‘darshan’ from January 23, these contributions, including the saffron gift, added to the sacred and peaceful atmosphere surrounding the event.
A meeting between Kashmiri Muslims and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Alok Kumar emphasized that, despite different religious paths, India’s ancestral connections and shared cultural heritage foster mutual respect. Their acknowledgment of Lord Ram as a revered ancestor signifies the inclusive nature of the Ramayana’s teachings, focusing on universal values of duty, rights, and social responsibilities.
Bhan also highlighted that Lord Rama’s incarnation as an embodiment of God in human form, as described in the Ramayana, resonates deeply with the collective consciousness of the Indian subcontinent. These ancient legends of Rama, enriched with cultural expressions, find echoes in Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism, demonstrating the enduring impact of these tales across diverse spiritual traditions.
Kashmir, with its rich cultural heritage, holds its own connection to Lord Rama. Legend has it that during his exile, Lord Rama sought solace in the serene meadows of Kashmir, leaving an indelible mark on the land.
The convergence of faiths in the gift of saffron exemplifies the profound cultural harmony that weaves together the rich heritage of India. As the grand ceremony of Pran Prathishta unfolded in Ayodhya, the gift of saffron from Kashmir served as a symbol of this profound connection, bridging the historical anecdotes of Lord Rama with the present-day expressions of unity and respect among diverse communities.
