Ganderbal, Feb 01: For the past five years, the residents of Shalbugh in Ganderbal district have been grappling with the prolonged delay in the completion of a crucial bridge, which has become a lifeline for their daily activities. The unfinished bridge, essential for farming, cattle grazing, and accessing vital areas such as the local graveyard.
According to the local Residents the bridge, once completed, is expected to significantly ease the daily struggles of the locals, who currently face immense difficulties in transporting goods, tending to their livestock, and even performing last rites for their loved ones.
Local residents further said this bridge is not just a structure; it is a necessity for our survival. For five years, we have been waiting, but nothing has been done. The authorities need to understand the gravity of the situation and act swiftly,” said a resident of Shalbugh.
They said If a project has been stalled for so long, there must be reasons behind it. Whether it’s a lack of funds or poor planning the government must investigate and ensure accountability,” another local added.
They urge the government and higher authorities to prioritize the completion of the bridge. “We hope our pleas do not fall on deaf ears. The government must act quickly to address this ongoing hardship,” said a concerned resident.
