Sewa Parv: Series of welfare & awareness activities held in Ganderbal

  Ganderbal, Sep 22: The ongoing Sewa Parv celebrations gained further momentum in Ganderbal district as day six on Monday was marked with a vibrant series of welfare and awareness activities organized across different blocks, zones, and institutions of the district. As per a statement issued here, the programmes highlighted the spirit of collective service, community participation, and government–citizen partnership in building a healthier, greener and more empowered society. The highlight of the day was a Mega Sports event for Girls, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports district Ganderbal in collaboration with the department of Social Welfare Ganderbal at the Government College of Physical Education Gadoora. At the CDPO Office Ganderbal, a Project Level Poshan Maah Camp was held with a special focus on the role of indigenous, low-cost and no-cost toys in the holistic development of children. Youth Parliaments were organised by the Government Polytechnic College Ganderbal and GDC Kangan, aimed at sensitizing students about parliamentary democracy, constitutional values, and the importance of active participation in democratic processes. The district Employment and Counselling Centre Ganderbal held a YUVA Help Desk Day, which witnessed enthusiastic participation of local youth. To promote greenery and environmental sustainability, a massive plantation drive was carried out across multiple panchayats, reflecting the district’s collective responsibility towards nature conservation. The Agriculture department organised an awareness programme where farmers were encouraged to avail government schemes and adopt scientific farming methods to enhance productivity. Several educational institutions across the district held cleanliness drives, awareness sessions, and interactive engagements, instilling the values of service, responsibility and civic sense among students. In addition, the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-K Shuhama Ganderbal hosted an eye check-up and free medical camp, providing free consultation, basic diagnostic services, medicines, and awareness on preventive healthcare. The diverse range of activities organized under Sewa Parv-2025 Day six reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to fostering community well-being, youth engagement and sustainable development.
