Pulwama, Sept 26: As part of the ongoing Sewa Parv celebrations, a large-scale public outreach camp was organised on Friday at Town Hall Tral, drawing enthusiastic participation from local residents, civil society members, community leaders, and officials from various line departments.
The event was attended by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Tral, Rafiq Ahmad Naik, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom, along with DDC Members Dadsara Avtar Singh, Tral’s Dr Harbaksh Singh, and Aripal’s Manzoor Ahmad Ganie.
During the program, departmental stalls were set up by Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare, Sheep Husbandry, Rural Development, Education, FCS&CA, ICDS, and Social Forestry, providing information about various government schemes and services.
The progress of service delivery was reviewed, and officials were directed to maximise outreach and benefit coverage under different schemes during the Sewa Parv campaign. A medical camp was also organised under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, with officials instructed to address gaps in ABHA and Golden Card coverage and to intensify screening for ailments such as anaemia, tuberculosis, diabetes, and hypertension.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Naik highlighted the importance of cleanliness and environmental responsibility. He urged locals to actively participate in creating clean surroundings and to fully utilise the services offered during Sewa Parv for their overall welfare. He called upon citizens to contribute voluntarily through activities like cleanliness drives, plantation campaigns, awareness rallies, and blood donation camps, saying the true spirit of Sewa Parv lies in collective action to build a healthier and more responsible society.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the wide range of activities carried out across the district as part of Sewa Parv. He stressed that while government initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Mission promote hygiene and sanitation, real change depends on active community participation. He urged citizens to practice waste segregation at source, join local sanitation committees, and transform cleanliness into a citizen-led movement.
Dr Qayoom also emphasised self-employment and livelihood schemes such as Mission Yuva, encouraging youth to enrol in flagship programs to realise their entrepreneurial goals. He highlighted the free medical camps organised under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, urging women in particular to undergo anaemia screening, blood pressure checks, and other preventive health measures for early detection of lifestyle and nutritional disorders.
The event featured addresses by DDC members, who called on locals to participate actively in cleanliness drives, plantation activities, blood donation camps, and awareness programs, ensuring the spirit of Sewa Parv reaches every household.
Students from various schools showcased speeches on themes related to Sewa Parv, including service, cleanliness, waste segregation, and social responsibility. Later, the Deputy Commissioner distributed prizes among students as recognition for their efforts.
Earlier in the day, a plantation drive was conducted, and welfare scheme entitlements were distributed among beneficiaries. The outreach camp also served as a platform for community members and leaders to voice their development and service-related issues, with officers assuring timely resolution through inter-departmental coordination.
Across Pulwama, Sewa Parv activities included extensive cleanliness drives by the RDD and Housing & Urban Development Department, focusing on garbage removal from SBM assets and water bodies. The Education Department led donation drives collecting books, clothes, and toys for underprivileged students. Medical camps were also held at PHCs, CHCs, and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, offering health screenings and awareness sessions on maternal and child health, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, and lifestyle-related diseases.
