Srinagar, Aug 01: Setting example and serving as an inspiration for the budding cricketers, the senior cricketers of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), who presently serve the Association in different capacities, played two T20 matches in a single day and scripted victories in both of them at SK Stadium, here.
To test their cricketing skills and motivate, inspire the young brigade of cricketers, the senior players of JKCA played two matches today–one against Doctors XI and another against SXR Warriors.
JKCA Seniors defeated SXR Warriors by 8 wickets in an easy contest.
Batting first, SXR Warriors scored 138 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Jaindra Rudra top scored with unbeaten 51 runs. For JKCA Seniors, Majid Dar was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 wickets by conceding 27 runs in his 4 overs, while Manzoor Dar bagged 2 wickets. Rakesh Koul and Iqbal Shah claimed one wicket each.
In reply, JKCA Seniors rode on Wajahat Wasti’s brilliance and chased the target in 19.2 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Wajahat top scored with power-packed unbeaten 59 runs off 43 balls, studded with 6 crispy boundaries, while Mehraj contributed 41 runs with 2 fours and one six. Majid Dar scored brisk 20 runs off 16 balls, while Imraj Thakur remained unbeaten on 7 runs. For SXR Warriors, RP Saw took both the wickets to fall.
Earlier, in the first match, JKCA XI prevailed over Doctors XI in a close contest by 7 runs.
Batting first, JKCA Seniors sailed on good contributions by Huwaid Hamid and Rakesh Koul to score a good total of 150 runs in 20 overs. Showing stellar grit and tenacity, Huwaid top scored with 36 runs, while displaying solidity and composure, Koul contributed valuable 32 runs. Majid Dar contributed valuable 16 runs, while Susheel Pajnu fell on four.
Later-on, showing discipline with the ball, the quartet of Zahoor Sofi, Jahangir, Iqbal Shah and Majid Dar bundled the rival team out for 143 runs, thus JKCA Seniors registered a narrow win by 7 runs.
For his all-round display, Majid Dar was adjudged as the man of the match in both the matches.
