Sensitization Training Programme under Mission Vatsalya held at Srinagar

District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Srinagar in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar today organised Sensitization/ Training programme related to children in conflict with Law and children in need of care and protection at Institute of Hotel Management (IoHM) at Rajbagh Srinagar.

The program was attended by officers of the District Child Protection Unit Srinagar, Secretary DLSA Srinagar, officials of District Child Protection Unit, Members of JJB officials and paralegal volunteers of the DLSA Srinagar.

The aim of the sensitization/training program was to enhance knowledge and skills in child protection.

The program covered various aspects of child protection including the rights of children, forms of child abuse and neglect, reporting mechanisms, and the role of various stakeholders in protecting children. The participants were also sensitized about the importance of early intervention and providing support to children who have been abused or neglected.

Speaking at the event, District Social Welfare Officer/ District Child Protection Officer, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad explained the importance of the programme and gave a detailed description of the topic and its working mechanism at the government level.

The speakers shared their expertise and professional knowledge with the participants.

Among them, Dr Shahid Ahmad, Member Child Welfare Committee discussed the Role of Child Welfare Committee and Children in need of Care and Protection. Advocate Zulfikar Khan, Member Juvenile Justice Board, explained role and responsibilities of Juvenile Justice Board and its working in Nation Building. He further added the importance of incorporation of new skill and exploring participative nature of these Children for incorporating them in the mainstream society.

  1. Mansha, Project Head Child line gave a detailed presentation on Mental Health and Juvenile Justice System and described Adversities of Childhood Experiences and its impact in shaping the future of these Children.

At the end, Secretary DLSA Srinagar, Jahangir Ahmed Bakshi enlightened the working of Legal System and religious perspective towards dealing with Care and Protection of vulnerable children. He further stated that this sensitization/training program is crucial in raising awareness and equipping stakeholders with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively protect children.

 

By working together, we can create a safe and nurturing environment for all children in our district, he added.
