Jammu, Feb 14: The search for the new Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu, has gained momentum as a selection committee has been constituted by the J&K government to invite the application for the position.
Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha has constituted the selection committee for recommending a panel of suitable aspirants for the position of VC.
The process is rolled out for the appointment and the guidelines issued stipulate that an aspirant for the position should not be more than 62 years of age as on 13 March 2023 which is the closing date of application.
The committee invites applications from eminent agricultural scientists with outstanding credentials.
The notification mentioned the essential qualification and experience. The candidate should be a distinguished scientist or an academician with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Agriculture/ veterinary or related fields. The candidate must be a professor and must have at least 10 years of experience.
The candidate must possess administrative experience of 3 years in handling affairs of any University or a national institution as a Dean/ Joint Director /Director or equivalent. Minimum of 20 research papers published in national or international publications and books.
The position is to be filled on a tenure basis for a period not exceeding 3 years of attainment of 65 years of age whichever is earlier. The mode of application for the post is online.
Earlier in June 2020, Dr. J P Sharma was appointed as VC SKUAST, Jammu.
The tenure of Dr. Sharma as Vice Chancellor was completed on January 14. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, VC SKUAST- Kashmir was given the additional charge of the post of the university in addition to his own duties on January 18.
