Srinagar, Mar 12: From door-to-door campaigns and children rallies to parent motivation camps, the School Education Department will launch a mega enrolment effort to enhance student enrollment in Jammu and Kashmir UT government schools.
The School Education Department will begin the massive enrollmentdrive on March 15, 2023 for a 10-day period without affecting with schoolwork. The directorate of district Baramulla will commence the campaign.
Under the mega enrollment campaign, various programs and events will take place.
The order by Directorate of School Education said that to inspire field functionaries, all education officers including JDs, Chief Education Officers, Principal DIETs, HODs of DIETs, Deputy CE0s, DEPOs, DIET faculty, Zonal Education officers, and Zonal Education Planning officers shall visit at least one or more habitations as a part of the door-to-door campaign.
“Ouster Heads are directed to lead the campaign at cluster or complex head level. Door to Door campaigning by head of institutions and teachers, rallies by children, parent motivation camps by roping in School Management Committees and Village Education Committees and other community leaders, PRIs and village elders,” reads an order.
It further reads that Village Education Register should be updated for identification of out of School Children and Children with Special Needs (CwSN). These activities should also include mainstreaming of school children (Drop Outs & Never Enrolled) and CwSN.
It is further directed that the details of the new enrollment will be recorded in an online mode by the school heads on the link to be provided by this Directorate & District Cultural Coordinators will coordinate the process at District level.
Afshan, a teacher working in a government school in Srinagar said that the enrollment drives have always been a priority for the School Education Department.
“The enrollment drives have always been going on and are voluntarily done by the teaching staff. By creating awareness among parents through motivation camps, roping in community leaders and children rallies, one can get positive results. In the future, the government should also think about upgrading the infrastructure of the schools that are working in space crunch. Some of the government schools have good infrastructure and the teachers of those schools are admitting their children in the same schools which is a good step towards increasing the enrolment of the school,” she said.
