32 hi-tech CCTV’s & special drones to monitor processions: Police
Srinagar, July 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said that adequate security arrangements have been placed for the 8th Muharram procession through the traditional route from Guru Bazar to Dalgate, officials said.
A police official at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir said that adequate security arrangements have been made for 8th Muharram procession in Srinagar.
“Additional companies of J&K Police, CRPF and SSB Jawans will be deployed around 4AM on Monday. High end camera-fitted vehicles and 32 CCTVs. Special drones would be used to monitor the overall situation,” he said.
The police official said the procession will be monitored from special control rooms. It would help streamline the traffic in the city, he said, adding that traffic advisory has been issued in this regard.
“Apart from Srinagar, security and other arrangements have been reviewed by respective SSP’s. No one will be allowed to disturb law and order in the region,” police official said.
On Saturday, IGP Kashmir Zone V.K Birdi chaired a security review meeting that focused on various security arrangements put in place for Muharram as a large number of religious processions are expected to be taken in various parts of the valley.
