Srinagar, Sep 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh Friday said that lot of work has been done to wipe out terrorists and as such security situation in Kashmir has improved to a large extent.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of the “Pedal for Peace” cycle race event in Srinagar, DGP Singh said he is happy to see that a lot of thorns have been wiped out from Kashmir as they were a threat to people.
“For remaining elements, effective measures are taken by the security forces. We also need the support and company of the local population,” he said.
DGP Singh said that the support and company of people will not boost our morale but it feels we are on the same path aiming for the same goal.
“The path is comfortable now and will be more comfortable in the coming times, ” he said.
DGP Singh said that a lot of hurdles have been crossed adding that remaining hurdles would also be scaled.
He said that Hurriyat and other anti-peace elements used to play a “bloody game” in Kashmir on behalf of their mentors across the border.
The DGP said that J&K Police is organizing a number of events and programmes which are aimed for participation of Police and people together.
“Whether in uniform or without uniform we are one family and our mission is one that is a bright future for our children, safe and secure life for people,” he said.
DGP Singh said there is complete change on the ground, Zainapora Shopian which was hotbed of terrorism and where terrorists used to circulate videos on social media.
“The youth of the same area demand heath facilities, ground, and sports academy. There is a visible change on the ground,” he said.
About Downtown, the DGP said it is good to see that they have taken the lead in sports activities and building their careers.
“The security situation has improved in Kashmir and people can have sign of relief today,” he said.
Referring to the upcoming event of Jashn-e-dal the DGP said that Dal Lake is our pride, Kashmir’s beauty is not talked about without Dal lake and it should be our prime responsibility to help in keeping it neat and clean.
He said the beauty and the hospitality of Kashmir is the talk of the world again and hoped that it would continue in the coming time.
