JAMMU, Jan 14: In response to concerns about potential disruptions from those opposed to the nation’s interests, security has been increased in the Jammu region. The area has been divided into sensitive zones, especially near the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) areas. The heightened security is in preparation for two important upcoming events: the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Ram Lala in Ayodhya on January 22 and Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
Officials have assured that they’ve taken strong security measures in Rajouri, Poonch, and along the LoC to prevent any untoward incidents. In Jammu City, additional security measures, like more checkpoints, have been put in place. Authorities are being extra cautious to ensure safety and security in the region leading up to these significant events.
The security forces have categorised Jammu region in hypersensitive and sensitive zones, sources said. However, the alert has been sounded by the security agencies in the areas near to Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonchs and around International Border (IB) areas in Jammu region like Samba, Hira Nagar.
“Adequate security arrangements have been put in place to thwart designs of anti-national elements in Rajouri, Poonch and areas along the LoC,” PRO Defence, Suneel Bartwal said.
Meanwhile, the security has also been beefed up in Jammu City. Additional nakas have been put in place in all the major crossings of the city.
