Srinagar, Mar 10: Jammu and Kashmir Police along with security forces on Sunday busted a terror hideout in a forest in Surankote area of Poonch district. During the operation seven rusted improvised explosive devices and a wireless set was recovered, officials said.
An Army official said that forces received information through reliable sources regarding a possible hideout in the jurisdiction of Surankote area. Tthe hideout located inside a cave was uncovered during a joint search operation by police and the Army at Dara Sangla in the Surankote area,” he said.
The Army official said that old blankets and some other materials were also found in the hideout. Meanwhile, a case has been registered and further investigation is on, they said, adding that no arrests have been made so far.
“It seems this hideout has not been used for decades. We guess that place has been used since the late 2000’s in the area when terrorism was at its peak in the Chenab region,” he said.
Pertinent to mention here, on Saturday, Army detected two landmines along the Line of Control in Mankote sector of Mendhar in Poonch district and immediately Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the spot and major tragedy was averted.
