Srinagar, Mar 03: In anticipation of Prime Minister NarendraModi’s forthcoming visit to Kashmir on March 07, elaborate security measures have been put in place, officials stated on Sunday.
A senior police officer at the Police Control Room disclosed to Rising Kashmir that security has been significantly heightened across Srinagar city. The security arrangement entails a four-tier security setup in Srinagar, particularly emphasizing the Bakshi Stadium where PM Modi is scheduled to address a mega rally.
The officer mentioned the deployment of additional companies of J&K Police, CRPF, and SSB jawans in Srinagar. Advanced camera-fitted vehicles and CCTV surveillance will be employed to monitor the situation closely over the next several days. Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel in plainclothes have been stationed around vital points in the city to monitor any suspicious activities.
Both Jammu and Kashmir Commandos along with CRPF personnel will be stationed in and around the Bakshi Stadium to pre-empt any untoward incidents. The officer assured that arrangements are being meticulously finalized for PM Modi’s visit, with special forces on high alert.
Meanwhile, in Srinagar, police and CRPF have intensified patrolling, vehicle checks, and frisking at various flashpoints in the city and on key highways across the Valley.
Moreover, civilian drones and unmanned aerial vehicles have been prohibited from flying over Bakshi Stadium under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedural Code until March 07. Security forces have also sanitised major buildings and residential areas surrounding the stadium, with makeshift bunkers instructed to maintain vigilance in their respective areas.
The officer also revealed the formulation of a traffic plan to ensure the smooth conduct of the rally, which will be shared with the media in the coming days.
Furthermore, stringent verification processes have been put in place for rally attendees, with each participant’s details cross-checked through proper channels, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The administration and BJP leadership will collaborate with the police to ensure proper verification and security measures.
The venue for the Prime Minister’s rally was shifted from SKICC to Bakshi Stadium to accommodate the larger crowd and facilitate better crowd management, with multiple entry and exit points.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to announce various developmental projects and engage with beneficiaries of national schemes and programs in the valley. His visit follows a recent trip to Jammu on February 20, during which he inaugurated and laid the foundation for developmental projects worth Rs 32,000 crores.
