Srinagar, May 05: Secretary Health & Medical Education Department, Bhupinder Kumar on Friday reviewed G20 Summit health care preparedness in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
He visited various health facilities enroute to Gulmarg that include PHC Gulmarg, SDH Tangmarg, PHC Narbal, SDH Magam and Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare (RIHFW) Dhobiwan, Baramulla.
The hospitals on the 47-kilometer Srinagar-Gulmarg highway, connecting many tourist resorts, would be upgraded as the Health Department is gearing up for preparations ahead of this year’s G20 Summit events scheduled this month.
Spokesperson Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mir Mushtaq said these hospitals would be upgraded. These hospitals will get all the latest equipment along with state-of-art sanitation facilities and availability of medicines.
Kumar was accompanied by Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Rather and other divisional and district-level health officers.
He took a detailed review of the upgraded health facility and gave strict directions to the constructing agency to complete the works as per the deadline.
While inspecting the other mentioned health facilities he expressed satisfaction over the status of logistics, human resource and equipment that have been augmented in view of the upcoming G20 Summit.
Kumar directed Director Health Services Kashmir in various compartments of health section units of health institutes to further improve the health care facilities.
He also emphasized on a fool proof well-coordinated system to be in place among the health care centres for the smooth functioning of health care services during the summit.
The director also apprised the Secretary about the status of the health care delivery system and status of completion of various works as per the deadlines framed by the higher authorities.
