Jammu, May 24: SDRF second battalion Jammu, on the direction of Commandant Zahid Naseem Manhas, conducted a Water Rescue Exercise Saturday in river Chenab near Jia Pota Ghat Akhnoor.
The event formed the part of ongoing 21-day disaster management training being imparted to Armed Police personnel at SDRF second battalion headquarters Jammu.
During the training, the Dy SP Dinesh Gupta briefed the trainees about the necessary precautions to be taken during the water rescue operation. The real time scenario helped to showcase different types of disasters that may occur during Monsoon season like flash flood/landslide etc. All the trainees were practically involved in the water rescue demonstration conducted by I/C Inspector Mohinder Parkash and SI Sudershan Singh. The team consisted of 15 SDRF personnel. Among others present were SDPO Akhnoor Varinder Gupta; Dy. SP and SHO Akhnoor Inspector Sanjeev Chib and two personnel from Health Department.
