Bandipora, July 17: On the direction of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal, Aamir Choudhary on Monday visited Shahtulpora, Shadipora, Shilvat, Nowgam and Inderkoot areas of Sumbal Sub-Division to take stock of necessary arrangements put in place for smooth celebration of the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
The SDM visited several Imambaras and mosques to review the arrangements besides interacting with the local population. He inspected the Imambaras at Shahtulpora, Shadipora, Shahtulpora, Sarai Dangerpora, Shilwat, Wuddar Mohallah and Inderkoot and took a firsthand appraisal of various arrangements put in place and assessed the necessities to be arranged.
The SDM also interacted with the locals at all the locations. They thanked the administration for making necessary arrangements for the smooth celebration of the month and also apprised the officer about various problems being faced by them.
The people demanded uninterrupted water and power supply besides macadamization and necessary repairs of various roads and installation of street lamps at public places to ensure smooth passing of Muharram processions besides availability of healthcare services.
Choudhary assured that all the demands raised by the people will be looked into. He also passed on-spot decisions to resolve various demands. He also interacted with the representatives of some Shia associations who appraised him about their needs and demands pertaining to the Muharram celebration.
The SDM said that special arrangements have been made and directed the concerned officers to provide uninterrupted water and power supply during the auspicious days. He directed all the departments to work in tandem so that Muharram Mourners may not face any inconvenience.
He also directed the Municipal authorities and Rural Development Department to ensure cleanliness in the area, especially on the routes specified for processions. He was accompanied by Tehsildar Sumbal and other senior officers of the sub-division.
