Ganderbal, Feb 26: The education Institutes in Kargil district, Union Territory, is gearing up for a significant transition as both government and private schools are slated to resume operations by March 15, 2024. This decision was reached following a comprehensive review meeting chaired by the Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon.
Key stakeholders including Executive Councilors from various domains such as Tourism, Social Welfare, and Education, alongside the Deputy Commissioner/CEO Shrikant Suse (IAS) and the Chief Education Officer, convened to deliberate on the reopening strategy post winter vacations. Central to the discussions were the prevailing weather conditions, heavy snowfall accumulation, and accessibility challenges in subdivisions like Zanskar, Drass, and Taisuru of Sankoo.
Given the paramount importance of student health and safety, the decision to reopen schools by March 15, 2024, was made after meticulous consideration. Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, the CEC, emphasized the need for proactive measures and directed concerned officials to make necessary arrangements to facilitate a smooth reopening process.
As preparations are underway to welcome students back to classrooms, stakeholders are focused on ensuring a conducive learning environment while addressing logistical and operational requirements effectively.
