Srinagar, Mar 04:Schools in the Kashmir valley reopened on Monday after a three-month winter break, marking the return of students to classrooms amidst joy and excitement.
The winter break, which began on November 28, 2023, for students up to 8th grade and December 11, 2023, for those in 9th to 12th standard, concluded as schools geared up to resume normal functioning from March 1, 2024. However, due to adverse weather forecasts predicting heavy rains and snowfall, the resumption of classes faced a two-day delay.
In the Baramulla district, teachers organized various activities to help students feel more comfortable returning to school.
Madiha Muzamil, a student, expressed her joy at returning to school after a break of three months, stating, “I am very happy to be back at school after three months. Meeting my classmates, friends, and teachers on the first day was a great experience for me.”
Hilal Ahmad Bhat, Personal Officer at the Director of School Education Kashmir said that all schools in Kashmir valley resumed classwork on Monday after the winter break.
“Teachers have warmly welcomed students back to school, allowing them to enjoy their first day back to school,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Education Department went all out to welcome the students on their first day back to school after the winter vacations.
Director School Education, Kashmir, Dr.TasaduqHussain Mir personally extended a warm welcome to the students of GMS Kothibagh and GGHSS Kothibagh Srinagar.
His words of encouragement and support motivated the students to set their goals high and strive for excellence.
To make the occasion even more memorable, different gifts were distributed among the students, creating an atmosphere of excitement and joy. It was a heartwarming gesture to instill a sense of belongingness among the students.
Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Abdul Hamid Fani welcomed students in several schools across different Education Zones. He engaged the students in various activities, fostering their creativity and enthusiasm.
As a delightful surprise, sweets and chocolates were distributed among the students, leaving everyone with smiles on their faces.
The participation of all the Principals and Zonal Education Officers of the district Srinagar, who visited one school in their respective cluster/zone to personally greet and welcome the students made this grand welcome even more remarkable.
The students were thrilled to interact with their mentors and express their experiences and memories from the winter vacations. The HOIs, teachers and non-teaching staff warmly welcomed them back with open arms, creating a supportive and nurturing environment for their continued growth and learning.
The overwhelming response from students and parents was a testament to their happiness and contentment. They expressed their appreciation for the grand welcome and the dedicated endeavours of the entire Education Department in making the day special.
