Jammu, July 04: The J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina on Tuesday said the Supreme Court will take the decision on Article 370 keeping in view the “national interest”. This, he said, “will put an end to the wrong propaganda being propagated by some political parties in their vested interest”.
“We have full faith in our judiciary and hope that the Supreme Court will decide on the matter regarding abrogation of Article 370 in the national interest,” Raina said while addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the petitions challenging the abrogation of Article 370 on July 11. Raina said some political parties in the last 70 years have been “misleading” the people over Article 370 for their “vested interests”.
In reply to a question, the BJP leader said that for the last 70 years, OBCs, women, Paharis, West Pakistan Refugees, Gujjars & Bakarwals and other sections of society were being “oppressed” and “denied their rights under the garb of Article 370”.
“We have full faith in our judiciary and are hopeful,” he said, adding, “The Supreme Court will consider all these things and decide on the matter in the larger national interest.”
Meanwhile, Raina welcomed the decision of the LG administration to give land to the homeless in J&K. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and LG Manoj Sinha.
“The LG administration of the J&K UT has taken a historic decision of allotting land to the landless people here, who can now construct their own house and live with dignity,” he said.
He said the Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP had been continuously demanding allotment of land to the poor landless families.
Former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta, BJP vice president Shakti Parihar, chief spokesperson Sunil Sethi and office secretary Tilak Raj Gupta were present at the press conference.
