Senior Supreme Court Advocate Ashok Bhan has been invited by Indian Council of Jurists to receive prestigious National Law Day Award-2022 for his unique contribution in the field of law.
The National Law Day Awards will be presented by Hon’ble Dr.Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, former Chief Justice of India at V.K.Krishna Menon Auditorium, Bhagwan Das Road, New Delhi at 12.30 p.m. on 17.4.2023 (Monday).
It is pertinent to mention that Ashok Bhan is a practising senior Advocate at Supreme Court of India and has handled high-profile cases across the country.
He worked in Jammu and Kashmir High Court and was one of the prominent advocates till 1988.
Following the turmoil in Valley, Advocate Bhan migrated and shifted to New Delhi and started practicing in the Supreme Court of India.
Bhan is a proud Kashmiri and a patriot who has represented the Country at UNGA and UNHCR.
Bhan is a door tenant at a prestigious law chambers in London.After migrating from Valley and practicing in New Delhi, he has been undertaken a great struggle.His focus and professional competence came to be recognised as early in nineties when he successfully conducted the BOFORS case as Special counsel for CBI in various courts in Delhi and Supreme Court.
From 1989 to till date, Bhan has been continuously handling matters of great importance, high-profile cases, and other matters.
Bhan who worked as a special senior advocate for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and argued against YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case is now arguing on behalf of Amaravati farmers.
Bhan successfully argued for CBI in a disproportionate assets case and pitched against the likes of Harish Salve, Mukul Rohatgi, Gopal Subramanyam, and Ram Jethmalani.
Bhan started his engagement with CBI in Bofors case in the nineties and argued highly sensitive matters namely the Chandraswami case, Kethan Parikh hawala matter, Yaderappa’s corruption case, Mining scandal etc. in various high courts and in Supreme Court.
Bhan is a public speaker,a crusader against terrorism,a human rights activist and expert in conflict resolution jurisprudence.He is a track-2 diplomat.& a peace activist .
Bhan is also chairman of Kashmir (Policy & Strategy) Group and has also represented cooperate houses and many civil matters and many arbitrations.
He is also a working with London-based law firm and keeps them consulting on various matters.
Bhan is a prolific writer writes columns in lead dailies like Indian Express, Asian Age, The Tribune Daily Gaurdian etc and local jK based newspapers.
