JAMMU, Nov 03: The BJP’s national president, JP Nadda, has announced the appointment of Sat Sharma as the new president of the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit. In addition, Ravinder Raina has been inducted into the party’s National Executive body.
According to the order issued by the BJP leadership this morning, the appointments of Sharma and Raina will take effect immediately. This marks a significant organizational shift following the recent assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sat Sharma, who previously served as J&K BJP president from 2015 to 2018, returns to the role after a brief hiatus. He was recently appointed as the party’s working president amid tensions surrounding ticket distribution for the elections, in which he did not receive a party mandate.
Sharma, a chartered accountant, first entered the Jammu West assembly seat in 2014 and was a cabinet minister for 40 days in the coalition government with the PDP before its collapse in 2018.
Ravinder Raina, who succeeded Sharma as president in May 2018, has now taken on a national role within the party, reflecting his continued influence in BJP’s strategic planning at the national level.
