Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma chaired a crucial meeting of the Multi-Department Task Force formulated to contain illegal mining in the district. The meeting brought together key stakeholders from police, Geology and Mining, Revenue, Food Control, Forest and others departments. A series of decisive measures were outlined to staunchly address the pervasive challenge of illegal mining.

The DC issued comprehensive directives that included immediate cancellation of registration of vehicles involved in illegal mining activities, swift registration of FIRs against entities engaged in illegal mining practices, establishment of integrated smart check posts to monitor and control illegal mining activities effectively, and initiating the establishment of a comprehensive database documenting violations and violators for stringent enforcement.

The chair directed that regular monthly review meetings of tehsil-level multi-departmental task force be convened, and these village-level and tehsil-level committees report violations to district level for immediate necessary legal actions.

The purpose of these actions is to significantly curb the illegal extraction of resources, protect the environment, and preserve the integrity of the district’s natural resources. Further, it was stressed that “Illegal mining poses a grave threat to our environment and community well-being. Our joint efforts with various departments demonstrate our resolve to eradicate this unlawful practice.”

The meeting was attended by SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Samba Kusum Chib, Mohd Sayeed DMO Samba, Surinder Choudhary ASP Samba, SDM Vijaypur Rajesh Attri, SDM Ghagwal Sunaina Saini, DFO Samba, Executive Engineer Flood Control Samba, ARTO Samba and other concerned officers.
