Rajouri, Apr 12: Deputy Director Planning of Samagra Shiksha, Bilal Rashid, along with a team of engineers and officials, visited several educational institutions in Rajouri district to address long-pending land issues and monitor ongoing construction projects.
During the visit, Rashid noted the delay in the construction of two Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose hostels, sanctioned by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, due to land unavailability. He stressed the significance of these hostels in inspiring children and motivating teachers to achieve excellence in education.
The officer reiterated the directives issued by the Administrative Secretary of School Education, Dr Piyush Singla to expedite the construction of newly sanctioned hostels and ensure the functionality of existing girls’ hostels across the Union Territory.
Emphasising the importance of assessing feasibility before project implementation to avoid land availability issues, Rashid underscored the commitment of SAMAGRA SHIKSHA to provide quality infrastructure to schools.
During the visit, land was identified for hostel construction at Boys HSS Rajouri and HS Thandikassi, aiming to provide accommodation for students from disadvantaged groups and remote areas.
Rashid praised the efforts of Mushtaq Ahmed, Chief Education Officer, Rajouri, and Rakesh Sharma, Principal Boys HSS Rajouri, in facilitating the identification of suitable land. He also inspected ongoing civil work at the DIET complex in Rajouri and identified land for the construction of an approved auditorium. He urged the executing agency to expedite the pace of work to ensure timely completion of the projects.
The Deputy Director commended a research project on 8th class examinations and assessments presented by Mohd Riaz and Nahida Lone, lecturers at DIET Rajouri, under the research activities of SAMAGRA SHIKSHA. He appreciated their efforts in enhancing educational practices.
The visit was attended by various officials, including Er Yousaf Lodhi, Er Maroof Ahmed, Er Ashish Sharma, and academic officers Samina Mir, Farooq Ahmed, and Fazal Hussain Secondary Lecturer.
