Srinagar, Jan 21: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leader and party’s District President, Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen on Sunday expressed grief over the damage to property and business units in a devastating fire incident at the main market, Ukharhal in district Ramban.
Six shops including the three-storey structures, two government food stores and three godowns have been completely damaged in the mishap, according to the statement issued by Shaheen. He said the incident has caused substantial losses to the affected shop owners and their families.
The NC leader has appealed to the district administration for immediate compensation to be provided to the affected families. He highlighted the need for swift action to alleviate the financial burden faced by those who have suffered due to this calamity.
Sajjad emphasized the urgency of establishing fire service stations at all the tehsil headquarters in Ramban. “This will enhance the region’s firefighting capabilities and contribute to quicker response times in emergencies to safeguard lives and properties,” he added.
Shaheen lauded the local villagers for their timely efforts in preventing the fire from further spreading.
