Srinagar, Mar 4: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) Chief and MLA Handwara, Sajad Lone, staged a walkout over the disallowance of key issues in the assembly. He accused the government of suppressing voices and failing to address critical matters concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
Lone stated that his party had placed demands for the restoration of Article 370, the repeal of the Public Safety Act (PSA), action on civilian killings, and police verifications. However, he alleged that the Speaker refused to place these issues on the floor of the House.
“We walked out on this issue. The Speaker could have allowed it for discussion, but he disallowed it. We had a discussion with him, but I am not convinced. I believe they are trying to muzzle us,” Lone said.
He further alleged that before the elections, the government made promises, but after coming to power, it refuses to listen. “They have totally banned discussions on these issues. That is why I walked out,” he added.
